A former top-20 prospect, Trey spent five years in the St. Louis Cardinals organization, reaching Triple-A before retiring in 2017. His time on the field forged a powerful network, including future MLB managers Oli Marmol (St. Louis Cardinals) and Mike Schildt (San Diego Padres), with whom he co-founded Versus—a sports EdTech platform that delivered mentorship from icons like Albert Pujols, Fernando Tatis Jr., Jessica Mendoza, Ozzie Smith, and Jennie Finch straight to fans’ phones. Raising $9 million, Trey proved his ability to rally investors around big ideas, even as he learned valuable lessons when the model proved unsustainable.
